Falklands youth football

Our residents are passionate about sports, with a surprising number of club and individual sports thriving in the Falklands. The Stanley Leisure Centre is at the heart of the community with its swimming pool, sports hall, squash court and gym facilities and a National Sports Facility is currently under construction. There is also a variety of sports clubs and other activities on offer on the islands, which offer an opportunity to keep healthy and make new connections.

Football

Traditionally, one of the most popular sports in the Falklands, football is available all year round.

The Falkland Islands Football League (FIFL) organises and runs football events, including weekly training sessions, games, fundraisers and Island Games preparation.

Hockey

Inline hockey is another popular sport in the Falklands. With leagues and training programmes across all ages, the sport has built a solid following.

The Falkland Islands Hockey Association supports and promotes the development of this sport and organises local tournaments.

Running

The Falklands are home to one of the world’s most southerly AIMS-registered marathons, and the two most southerly parkruns. The Falkland Islands Athletics & Running Club hosts a busy racing calendar of half-marathons and shorter distance runs and races over the year.

Volleyball

Volleyball is another popular sport in the Falklands and both the women’s and the men’s national teams have recently taken part to their first international matches in Punta Arenas, Chile.

Cricket

The Falkland Islands Cricket Association promotes cricket in the Falkland Islands, both indoor and outdoor, for anyone aged 16 and older. The club organises regular games and takes part in international tournaments..

Yoga, Pilates and Meditation

Weekly Yoga and Pilates sessions are available to book. More information about meditation and mindfulness workshops can be found on the Mudita studio website.
