Living & Working

The Falkland Islands offer a unique experience for those looking to live and work in a close-knit community surrounded by natural beauty. From settling into your new home to starting your career, here’s what you can expect from your first few days.

First day at work

When you arrive in the Falklands, you will be welcomed at your new workplace. Often arrangements are made to collect you from your accommodation and accompany you to your workplace. You will be introduced to your colleagues, given a tour, and provided with an overview of operations.

Different employers will have different welcome procedures, but as a general rule, they will assist you with the basics of getting established, including:

  • Setting up a local bank account.
  • Registering at the hospital.
  • Organising a mobile phone SIM and internet connection with Sure.
  • Touring key locations in Stanley, such as supermarkets, the post office, and other essentials.

Jobs & Careers

The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) is the largest employer, offering diverse and rewarding career opportunities.
