Stanley 150th anniversary celebrations, Falkland Islands

The Community

Moving to a new place is always an adventure and the Falkland Islands are no exception. While the Islands are famous for their stunning landscapes and wildlife, it’s the people that make the Islands special.

The Falklands Islands are home to a multicultural and welcoming community that allows for a unique sense of belonging.

If you are open to them, there are countless opportunities to get involved, meet new people, and experience Island life to the fullest.

From local clubs and volunteer groups to sports teams, arts, and social gatherings, the community is at the heart of life here. Annual celebrations such as Sports Week, the May Ball, and the Conservation Ball bring people together, while football, rugby, netball, and sailing clubs offer both competition and camaraderie.

Social & Cultural Life

Life here is what you make of it, and getting involved is the best way to feel at home.  You can join a sports club, a music group or get involved with arts, crafts and gaming. If you want to give back there are plenty of volunteering opportunities too.

Community Directory

If you’re looking to try something new, the directory is a great place to discover activities, connect with local groups, and explore ways to contribute. You can find and contact clubs, groups, and charities even before you arrive!  If your favourite hobby isn’t listed, don’t worry: new activities are created based on demand.

Community Board

This online group is a great place to ask questions, find like-minded people or get recommendations on how to pursue your interests locally. Members of this group are always keen to help.
