Celebrating the Birthday of His Majesty King Charles III in the Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands celebrated the Birthday of His Majesty King Charles III last Friday, 14th November 2025 with a series of ceremonial events that brought together members of the community, dignitaries and representatives of the armed forces.

The day kicked off on Victory Green in Stanley, where the Royal Standard was raised and followed by a traditional 21-gun salute. Even though it was a rainy morning and the island winds were quite brisk, local residents came together to see the ceremony, showing their strong support. His Excellency the Governor, Colin Martin-Reynolds, led the event, with selected men and women from British Forces South Atlantic Islands and the Falkland Islands Defence Force, who carried out their duties with precision and pride.

Later in the day, the celebrations continued at a warm and welcoming reception at Government House. Guests included members of the community from all cultural backgrounds, as well as dignitaries living and working in the Falkland Islands. The gathering was a chance for people from all walks of life to come together and honour His Majesty’s 77th birthday.

The reception had a delicious spread of food and drinks, including a large birthday cake that was fit for a King, a fitting tribute to mark the special occasion. There was also a display filled with handmade birthday cards made by the children of the Falkland Islands for the King, where 3 chosen cards will be delivered to King Charles III by the Governor himself. Laughter, conversation and a shared sense of community filled the rooms of Government House, wrapping up the day in true celebratory spirit.
